Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vikrant Kumar Tongad Vs. Environment Pollution (Prevention Control) Authority & Others dated 06/01/2017 regarding air pollution resulting from crop residue burning.
Counsel appearing for the State of Punjab submits that they have taken District Patiala as Model District for the purposes of prevention and control of air pollution from burning of crop residues. Counsel appearing for State of Haryana submits that they have taken District Karnal as a Model District for that purpose. It is stated that both these Districts have high rural population and agriculture activity is largely carried out in these Districts. National Green Tribunal directs the concerned Secretary of the State to file a complete Action Plan in relation to these two Districts at the first instance.
