Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Almitra H. Patel & Others Vs. Vivek Vihar Railway Station dated 23/10/2017 collection, transportation and disposal of the municipal solid waste collected from the railway platforms. NGT while comining down heavily on the Railway authority said that the primary responsibility to comply with the Rules of 2016 and to ensure that the platforms and railway lines remain free of municipal solid wastes and other wastes rests on them. NGT direct each of the railway station (Vivek Vihar Railway Station, Anand Vihar Railway Station, Delhi Shahdara Railway Station, Shakur Basti Railway Station) to pay environmental compensation of Rs. 1 lakh each within four weeks.
