Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Biswajit Mukherjee Vs Union of India & Others dated 16/04/2018 regarding fire cracker units operating in West Bengal. An affidavit filed in NGT gives information that the State Government is taking steps to establish clusters for setting fire cracker units in different districts for which purpose areas have been earmarked in the South 24 Parganas and for the districts of Hooghly, Howrah, Murshidabad and Burdwan. NGT demands a report on this matter. NGT also directs the West Bengal PCB to place before the Court the present status of the consents granted to the various fire cracker units.
