Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding supply of treated sewage water for gardening purposes in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, 31/05/2018 [1]

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rear Admiral A P Revi IN (Retd.) Vs. Delhi Jal Board & Others dated 31/05/2018 regarding Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rear Admiral A P Revi IN (Retd.) Vs. Delhi Jal Board & Others dated 30/05/2018 regarding supply of treated sewage water for gardening purposes in Vasant Kunj, Delhi.

This execution application has been filed by the applicant in the month of December 2017 for compliance of the order dated 26-10-2017 in which the Court had passed directions that DDA/MCD shall ensure that DJB shall supply treated sewage water for gardening at the fixed rate which will be the primary responsibility of the public authority. The residents, DDA/MCD and DJB were prohibited to use fresh water for gardening purpose. As per the order it was the joint responsibility of DDA and MCD to ensure that the pipeline is made effectively operative and duly maintained.

It has come to the notice of the Court that even the work with regard to the pipeline have not been started by DDA so far.

NGT directs DDA to pay a compensation of Rs. 1 lac and the directions issued to DDA by NGT to be compiled upon within four weeks. In the meanwhile, DJB shall continue to supply treated water for the purpose of gardening.
