Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ambarnath Sengupta Vs State of West Bengal dated 21/01/2019 regarding rules governing immersion of idols. This application has been filed seeking enforcement of order dated 06.10.2017 in O.A. No. 51/2016 in the matter of Ambarnath Sengupta vs. State of West Bengal & Ors.
[2] The substance of the directions in the said order was that all the States in the region falling within the jurisdiction of the NGT, Eastern Zone, should frame rules, governing immersion of idols keeping in view the guidelines issued by the CPCB. Court has been informed that many of the States have framed the rules and so has the State of West Bengal. NGT directs that all the States which have not yet framed the rules to do so within a period of three months.
