Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Shobha Phadanvis Vs State of Maharashtra & Others dated 18/02/2019 regarding geo digitization of the forest areas in the State of Maharashtra which is off shoot of directions of the Supreme Court in Lafarge Umiam Mining (P) Ltd. vs. Union of India for proper implementation of National Forest Policy, 1988. [2]The matter was originally filed before the Bombay High Court being W.P. No. 1277 of 2000 on 05.04.2000 against illegal cutting of trees in Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gadchiroli Districts in Maharashtra. On 16.07.2018, an action plan was noted alongwith the timelines for the steps to be taken.

Counsel for the State of Maharashtra states that process of implementation of action plan is going on and has been completed in ten of the Districts. In the remaining 22 Districts also the process will be completed within the timelines mentioned in the action plan.
