The order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ranjeet Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 15/10/2019 regarding pollution by a sugar mill in Dhadha, District Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh in violation of environmental norms. The unit is emitting smoke and discharging polluting effluents affecting public health, health of animals, underground water as well as soil of the area.

The report submitted by a joint Committee of the District Magistrate, Kushinagar and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) informed the Tribunal that the unit has not installed sewage treatment plant (STP) for the treatment of sewage. Also due to off-season, the unit was not operational. Counsel for the UPPCB stated that once the season starts, a fresh inspection would be carried out and action taken report filed.
