A factual and action taken report submitted by the District Magistrate and the District Forest Officer, Pithoragarh has stated that proposal for preparing detailed project report (DPR) was pending with the administration and that bio-degradable garbage was being buried in the dump yard and non-degradable waste separated and sent to Encholi, 10 kms away from the dumping yard through a contractor. The report reflected on the unsatisfactory state of affairs in violation of mandate of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

The NGT directed the Secretary, Urban Development, Uttarakhand to look into the matter and take remedial action and furnish a report within one month.
