Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of SAHAS (Mahila Sikshan Evam Samajik Vikas Sanstha) Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others dated 26/08/2020. The issue raised in this application was illegal mining and direction to the Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation to ensure Scientific Replenishment Study as prescribed in Sand guidelines (EMGSM-2020) issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) before allowing sand mining and to take necessary action on the Principle of Polluter Pays.
The NGT directed the constitution of a Committee consisting (i) District Collector (Mines), Collectorate, Sehore, M.P. and (ii) Madhya Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (SPCB). They have been entrusted to submit a factual and action taken report. Report has to be submitted within six weeks. Madhya Pradesh State Pollution Control Board would be the nodal agency for compliance.
