The matter related to illegal mining activities going on in water channels/submerged area of Narmada river in gram Chipaner, district Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. Heavy machines and suction pumps are being used causing salinity intrusion into the rivers, damaging riverine ecoystems and severely affecting the ecological equilibrium of the river.

The matter is related to illegal sand mining by M/s Power Mech Project in river Narmada, Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of SAHAS (Mahila Sikshan Evam Samajik Vikas Sanstha) Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others dated 26/08/2020. The issue raised in this application was illegal mining and direction to the Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation to ensure Scientific Replenishment Study as prescribed in Sand guidelines (EMGSM-2020) issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) before allowing sand mining and to take necessary action on the Principle of Polluter Pays.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Sainik Food Pvt. Ltd. vs. State of MP & Ors. dated 30/01/2017 regarding illegal in stream sand mining being carried out in river Narmada by use of boats between village Chipaner to Chorsakheda, Sehore District, Madhya Pradesh. NGT directs the District Collector (Mines) and the Superintendant of Police, Sehore to take immediate action for impounding the boats and submit a list of persons involved in the aforesaid activity.
