Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Action for Vigilance and Knowledge for Empowerment Vs Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited & Others dated 17/03/2021.

The issue for consideration was compliance of environmental norms by M/s Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited (LPGC). The matter has been considered on several occasions in the last two years and finding violation of environmental norms on issues of fly ash disposal, installation of CAAQMS, handling hazardous waste, control of fugitive emissions, adequate tree plantation and proper operation of STP, directions for remedial action had been issued.

LPGC filed an action taken report on February 16, 2021. The report mentioned that the STP was well maintained, operated efficiently and monitored adequately by trained staff. Hazardous waste generated was being disposed of as per the direction and guidelines mentioned in the authorization issued by the UPPCB. These were some of the measures mentioned in the report of LPGC filed before the NGT. 

As none appeared on behalf of the applicant to contest the LPGC report, the application was disposed of.
