Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding violation of environmental norms by brick kilns, Sri Ganganagar district, Rajasthan, 10/11/2021 [1]

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Hakam Singh & Others Vs State of Rajasthan & Others dated 10/11/2021.

Question for consideration is compliance of environmental norms by the brick kilns in Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan. The NGT noted that despite the court's last order, February 11, 2021 - illegally operating brick kilns have not been closed nor made accountable for past violations.

The Tribunal directed the Chief Secretary, Rajasthan and Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board to look into the conduct of the concerned officers and give an action taken report.

Further, the court said that the SPCB failed in enforcing their statutory obligation under the Air Act, 1981 showing their collusion with the illegally operating brick kilns and directed the Chairman and Member Secretary, SPCB to immediately take remedial action to enforce the environmental rule of law and remain present in person on the next date with their action taken report.
