Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Animesh Das Vs State of West Bengal & Others dated 12/09/2022.
The matter related to waterbody encroachment, mouza Kotrung under Uttarpara Kotrung Municipality, district Hooghly.

The court directed the constitution of a committee to look into the matter. The committee would visit the site in question and thereafter submit its report within four weeks with regard to the nature and status of the pond/water body in question and shall also assess the total area of pond in question as per the land records and area of pond encroached.
The West Bengal Pollution Control Board shall also file the water analysis report of the pond/water body. The Committee shall also suggest remedial measures to restore the pond to its original form.
