Telangana State Pollution Control Board report to the NGT on the dumping of human excreta into Musi river from tankers, 28/11/2022 [1]

Report filed by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board regarding human excrete collected from residences in and around Bandlaguda Jagir Municipal Corporation and other surrounding gram panchayats and being dumped into the Musi river at Tippu Khan bridge. The applicant, K Ravindran, resident of Madhu Park Ridge Apartment, Bandlaguda Jagir, Rangareddy district said that huge quantities of human excreta can be seen floating on the river.

The SPCB said that no dumping of human excreta into the Musi river was observed during inspections. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has enrolled 62 septic tank cleaning vehicles for collection of septage and conveying it to the nearest FSTP/STP for core treatment, treating septage along with sewage at existing STPs. The septic tank cleaning vehicles are fitted with a GPS tracking system and are monitored. The Bandlaguda Jagir municipality issued a notification regarding unauthorised usage of septic tankers and issued registrations to the existing septic tankers stated the report, November 28, 2022.
