The matter related to encroachment of Chande Baba talab situated in village Garhi Chunoti, tehsil Sarojini Nagar, district Lucknow.

The pond covers a total area of 36.909 hectare. At the time of inspection out of the 36.909 hectare area of Chande Baba talab, 3.1859 hectare area was found to be encroached by permanent and temporary nature houses.

Partial domestic effluent of the village was found to be discharged in Chande Baba talab.

Water samples collected by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and tested by the state's Central Laboratory for analysis have found fecal coliform in the pond above the prescribed norms due to human excreta. A pond was found in about 1/4th of the total area of Chande Baba talab in which water hyacinth was found.
