Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Mahendra Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 11/04/2023.

Grievance in the application is against continued violation of environmental norms in the operation of two brick kilns (OPN Brick Udyog and Shiv Ent Udyog) in district Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Case of the applicant was that vide order dated May 9, 2022 (OA No. 93/2021, Mukesh Kumar Aggarwal vs. Central Pollution Control Board & Others), the NGT had issued directions for compliance of environmental norms by brick kilns in Mathura district. It was said that many other brick kilns in district Mathura were not adhering to the siting guidelines and are also not complying with consent conditions and air quality norms.

The NGT directed the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and the District Magistrate, Mathura to verify the factual position and take remedial action following due process of law. An action taken report should be filed within a period of two months.
