The NGT directed a joint committee to compile the total number of ponds and water bodies within the state of Chhattisgarh and call the status report from all the district magistrates with regard to the ponds and areas recorded in the revenue records, present situation, encroachments and further action report by the district magistrates to remove encroachments. The district wise combined report should be submitted within six weeks and the next hearing of the case has been listed for July 23, 2024.
