Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zone Bench, Bhopal) regarding illegal sand mining being done at the Balod Pod sand mine located in Balod district, Chhattisgarh.

A report was called from the joint committee and the members of the joint committee visited the site and submitted the report that the inspection was done by the mining department and environmental compensation has been imposed.

Accordingly, the Chhattisgarh State Pollution Control Board/ Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board was directed to submit the report with regard to realization of environmental compensation and its utilization. The action taken report/reply should be filed within three weeks, the order said. The next hearing of the case is on January 20, 2025.
