One former director general ( dg ) is accused of misusing funds by R S Pundir, president of fri workers union. Funds were spent on foreign trips for several officers who were not associated with the projects, he claims.

Another dg , D N Tiwari, is blamed for claiming credit for research papers no one has seen. Volume116 dated November 1990 of Indian Forester, a journal published by the Society of Indian Foresters and the Indira Gandhi National Forestry Academy, Dehradun says, D N Tiwari has published 1,000 research papers on forestry. However, a monograph on teak published by him, much later, in 1992, mentioned that the number of research papers is 500.
