Navara paysam
Though Navara tastes "a little rough' compared to other varieties of rice, Navara paysam makes a delectable sweet dish. It is made by adding jaggery to well cooked Navara. This mixture is allowed to cook some more till it turns into a smooth paste. Dry fruits fried in ghee are then added along with a pinch of cardamom powder. Boiled milk is then poured in at the end.
Navara stew
Navara stew is made by boiling the rice with onions. A little turmeric is added to it. Salt is not used. It protects against heat when taken on empty stomach.
