ALAPPUZHA: Indiscriminate and illegal sand mining near Thanneermukkom barrage in Vembanad lake is posing a serious threat to the existence of the Thannermukkom bund and the biodiversity of the lake. The sand mafia has been very active in Vembanad Lake for over two years.
