Builder gets to redevelop 140 acres without bidding [1]

Mumbai: The state government has handed the redevelopment of a 140-acre plot to a single developer, skipping the competitive bidding process, by invoking a little-known clause of the Slum Rehabilitation Act, 1971. This is the first project to be allotted using this clause.
