April 8: At a time when the state is reeling under a shortage of drinking water, the government has issued an order allowing Coca-Cola company to draw 2,150 cusecs of water per day from the Western main canal of the Krishna river.
The company will draw water from the Guntur channel, which also supplies water to about a dozen towns downstream.
