Private hospitals in the City are required to send patients' blood samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) or Public Health Institute (PHI) for confirming dengue and chikungunya cases even if they had a laboratory of their own, said V Ashok, BBMP's Additional Commissioner (Health).
