Jorhat, April 17: The Geological Survey of India (GSI) and other agencies, including the North East Institute of Science and Technology are conducting microzonation surveys in the Northeast to mitigate the effects of natural disasters.
The Northeast is an earthquake-prone zone, with more than six major earthquakes occurring in the past 100 years and 250 minor tremors felt in the last decade.
