The events on 11 March 2011 at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which resulted from the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami, was initially expected to have wide ranging consequences on the global energy mix as governments and companies seek to address the challenges of providing a sustainable supply of energy for all.
As part of the World Energy Council's flagship scenarios study, a nuclear task force will investigate the up- to-date impact as well as potential impact of this incident on the future contribution of nuclear power to the global energy mix. The report is intended to provide opinion and decision leaders around the world with a high level, fact based and reasoned review of the current status and future prospects of the nuclear industry.
