GUWAHATI: As in Assam, public resentment against mega dams is brewing in Arunachal Pradesh too. This was apparent from the incident that took place in Lower Siang district on Tuesday during the proposed public hearing on the Lower Siang Hydroelectric Project.
Before the public hearing, which was scheduled to be held in the Jeing area in Lower Siang district, started, people came out on the streets in hordes. As a mark of protest against the 2700-MW Lower Siang Hydroelectric Project, they damaged 19 vehicles.
