 SAFETY MEASURES [1]

The Supreme Court has directed the Union government and the local authorities to regulate traffic and curb pollution in Delhi. A three-judge bench comprising of the Justice J S Verma, Justice B N Kirpal and Justice V N Khare issued the directions, while exercising its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution. The court has ruled that no bus belonging to or hired by an educational institution should be driven by a driver who has less than 10 yeas of experienced. All such drivers should wear uniform. City authorities have been directed to form "flying squads' headed by an SDM to check pollution.
