Row over Sony's new video games [1]

Can video games enjoy limitless freedom since they are fictitious and are set in cyberspace? The Church of England does not think so. It has threatened to sue Sony Entertainment Corporation for setting murder scenes inside the Manchester Cathedral in its game, Resistance: Fall of Man.

"It is so inappropriate and offensive,' said Nigel McCulloch, bishop of Manchester. "Corporations such as Sony should have some sense of responsibility,' said uk prime minister Tony Blair. But Sony says it sought consent from the church. "We will again contact the church to understand their concerns in detail,' said a Sony spokesperson.
