Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding pollution caused by Sariya Distillery, Sardar Nagar, Gorakhpur, 12/08/2015 [1]

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Krishan Kant Singh V/s. M/s. Sariya Distillery Sardar Nagar, Gorakhpur dated 12/08/2015 regarding pollution caused by Sariya Distillery, Sardar Nagar, Gorakhpur.

The Order states "further it is commonly stated before the Tribunal that as per the Charter such industries cannot be permitted to operate during the rainy season. It is agreed that industry cannot operate till 30th September, 2015. By that date the Unit will comply with shortcomings that have been pointed out in the report. Interalia but primarily the Unit will ensure complete dismantling of the Kaccha Lagoon located near Viocy drain (via industrial drain which meets Farry nala which ultimately meets river Ganga). It will install online monitoring system and would not store the spentwash even in the pakka tank beyond 30 days about that is 33,000 Kilo litre against the present storage of 233 days."
