Judgement of the National Green Tribunal (Western Zone Bench, Pune) in the matter of Goa Foundation Vs Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation & Others dated 07/04/2016. This Application is filed on 9th August, 2015, seeking prayers to enforce compliance with the requirement of EIA Notification, 2006 and CRZ Notification 2011 with regard to the construction of the 3rd bridge across River Mandovi in Goa which is alleged being constructed without necessary Environmental Clearance (EC), environmental studies, environmental management plan or other environmental safeguards.

Tribunal orders that till CRZ clearance is obtained the construction work of the bridge shall be kept in abeyance. GCZMA shall deposit cost of Rs.5,00,000/- (Rs. five lakhs) with Collector, North Goa, who shall utilize this amount on environmental activities including awareness, coastal protection, mangrove re-plantation etc. Besides this GCZMA shall pay cost of Rs.1,00,000/- (Rs. one lakh) to the Applicant as litigation cost.
