Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Suresh Kumar Pukhrajji Dhoka & Others Vs M/s. T.N. Pandya & Others dated 02/03/2017 regarding extraction of groundwater from borewells by business units in Jagannath Shankar Sheth Road, Mumbai. According to the Applicant, water is extracted from the borewells for the purposes of trade without having any NOC or valid permission Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
NGT restrains the business units from abstracting water without obtaining requisite permissions/NOCs from the concerned authorities namely Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) or State Ground Water Authority (SGWA) as the case may be.
