Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sushil Raaja Vs Secretary, MORTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways) & Others dated 06/02/2018 regarding maintenance of green cover along highways.

The States have been asked to file affidavits mentioning the following:

1. Stretch of roads in different areas in the State where trees have been felled and the areas identified for compensatory afforestation.

2. The number of trees proposed to be felled.

National Highway Authority of India has been directed to file the guidelines prescribing maintenance of flanks and avenue plantation along the highways and indicate the authority which is responsible for its implementation
