Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Peoples Rights and Social Research Centre (PRASAR) & Others Vs Union of India Ministry of Labour and Employment Secretary & Others dated 05/03/2019 on the issue of fixing compensation to victims of silicosis which have occurred to the habitants where the industries are located.

The Court has been appraised that states which allowed such units to operate should be made to pay adequate compensation to the victims. A show cause notice has been issued to all the States on this aspect and directed to file their replies as to why compensation should not be fixed by the Supreme Court for paying the same to the victims of silicosis. Six weeks time has been given for this purpose.
