Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jijaba Rangu Salunke & Others Vs M/s. Shree Bhimeshwari Ispat Pvt. Ltd. & Others dated 03/04/2019 regarding remedial steps to be taken for the air pollution caused by the industry, M/s Shree Bhimeshwari Ispat Pvt. Ltd. in Satara, Maharashtra. [2] The report filed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) pointed out at the violtion of environmental norms and had recommened measures to overcome it. The affidavit filed by the State PCB states that notices were issued to three units for violation of consent conditions. And a closure order passed for one unit. The other two units are in operation even though they are non-compliant. NGT directs action to be taken against the units within 15 days. The State PCB has been directed to initiate further steps for prosecution, assessment and recovery of the compensation for the damage already caused and submit an action taken report within three months.
