Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Residents of Village Mohamadpur, Sikri Kalan Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 01/07/2019 regarding illegal operation of brick kilns in Modinagar Muradnagar area of NCR in District Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The Tribunal through its previous order had directed the District Magistrate and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) to take appropriate action and furnish a factual and action taken report in the matter. The submitted report mentions that out of 42 brick kilns in the area, 25 were found to be operating without valid consent of the UPPCB and action was initiated against the 25 defaulting brick kilns. Counsel for the UPPCB states that action of recovering compensation on ‘Polluter Pays’ principle would be initiated and completed within next three months and a further action taken report filed.
