Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Varun Vs Delhi Pollution Control Committee & Others dated 21/10/2019 regarding red category industries located in Bawana Industrial Area, Mayapuri Industrial Area, Uttam Nagar and Khyala discharging pollutants into the ambient air, water and soil.

The activities were of dyeing factories using chemicals. The discharge of effluents resulted in diseases like lung cancer, asthma, diarrhoea etc. Report filed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the concerned District Magistrates has stated that requisite remedial action has been taken and compensation assessed for violations. In response to the action taken, the Tribunal disposed of the application while directing that the assessed compensation should be recovered in accordance with law.
