Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines informed the Rajya Sabha that the government has approved a Master Plan to be implemented within ten years and two years for pre-implementation activities for the rehabilitation of the people affected by the underground fire and land subsidence in the Jharia Coal area of Jharkhand.

Details of the projects under the Master Plan are 1. Dealing with fires 2. Rehabilitation & Resettlement of persons from the affected areas and 3. Survey for diversion of surface infrastructure.
