Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Maharashtra Bottled Water Manufacturers Association Vs Ministry of Jalshakti & Others dated 05/01/2021.
The Appeal was filed by Maharashtra Bottled Water Manufacturers Association against Notification dated September 24, 2020 issued by the Ministry of Jal Shakti on guidelines to regulate and control the groundwater extraction in the country. The appellant claims to be aggrieved by the exemption for extraction of groundwater in favour of micro and small enterprises.

The court dismissed the case and said that the appellant (Maharashtra Bottled Water Manufacturers Association) cannot claim to be an aggrieved party, as it was extracting groundwater, without regulation.
