Interim report by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in compliance with the National Green Tribunal order of January 6, 2020 in Original Application No. 400/2019 in the matter of Social Action for Forest & Environment (SAFE) Vs Union of India & Others on the absence of proper management of end of life tyres/waste tyres.

The CPCB report was on study of advance batch automated tyre pyrolysis plants. The report took into consideration three units (one each in Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra). CPCB has also scheduled such studies in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab for existing batch type units and one continuous type unit at Maharashtra by April 15, 2021.

The CPCB requested for grant of time till April 30, 2021 for submission of final report with collective findings on the adequacy of advance batch type for meeting the environmental concerns vs existing batch type vis a vis continuous batch type.
