Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Society for Protection Ophiofauna and Animal Rights (OPORS) Vs State of West Bengal & Others dated 15/07/2021.
The matter related to felling of trees in the forest area of the Bichabhanga on the periphery of Gorumara National Park for construction of an over-bridge.
The NGT directed the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to file an affidavit showing compliance of the directions given by the NGT, Principal Bench in the Judgement, December 8, 2017 (Kashmira Kakati Vs Union of India & Others) as well as the matter of felling of trees in Bichabhanga.
