Vallur Thermal Power Station environmentally compliant: NTECL report to the NGT [1]

NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company, Vallur Thermal Power Station in its report to the NGT said that NTECL has been adopting the best technologies to control pollution.

NTECL has constructed three stacks of height of 275 meters attached to unit 1, 2 and 3 boilers. Flue gases are let out through these stacks as directed in the consent to operate for maximum dispersion.

As per new emission norms notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change notification, December 7, 2015, particulate matter emission standard applicable to NTECL is 50 mg/Nm3. The report stated that NTECL ESPs are already designed for particulate matter emission values below 50 mg/Nm3.

The NTECL report was in compliance to the NGT order, August 23, 2022.
