Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Saif Alam Vs State of Maharashtra dated 13/03/2023. Allegations of a bio-medical waste plant (SMS envoclean Pvt. Ltd) running in the middle of the city of Mumbai and adjacent to slum of Mankhurd-Govandi prompted NGT to give directions for the formation of a joint committee.

The committee will comprise the Central Pollution Control Board, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and the concerned district Magistrate. The committee will file its action taken report within two months, after visiting the site and collecting relevant information.
