Himachal Pradesh assembly passed the Himachal Pradesh Water Cess on Hydropower Generation Bill, 2023. Along with existing 172 power projects in the state, it will also be implemented on future projects. The government will now establish the state commission for water cess on hydropower generation to exercise the powers and to discharge the functions under this Act and for selecting the chairperson and members of the commission, state government will constitute a search committee headed by the chief secretary.
