The Government of Punjab on April 18, 2023, issued the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act (Amendment), 2023 to further amend the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1961. The following amendments have been stated: In section 3 specifies ‘State Agricultural Marketing Board, constitution, powers and duties’, in sub-section (1), for the words and signs "Chairman, Senior Vice-Chairman and Vice-Chairman, to be nominated by the State Government", the words "Chairman to be nominated by the State Government" has been substituted; and o in the proviso, for the words and signs "Chairman, Senior Vice-Chairman and Vice Chairman", the word "Chairman" has been substituted; In section 3, in sub-section (6), for the existing proviso, the following proviso has been substituted, namely: "Provided that the Chairman of the Board may resign by tendering his resignation to the State Government."; In section 3, in sub-section (14), in clause (b), for the words and signs "Chairman, Senior Vice-Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary", the words and sign "Chairman, Secretary" has been substituted; and in sub-section (17), in clause (i), for the words and signs "Chairman, Senior Vice Chairman, Vice-Chairman or Secretary" the words "Chairman or Secretary" has been substituted; and in clause (ii), for the words and signs "Chairman, Senior Vice Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary or any of its officers", the words and signs "Chairman, Secretary, or any of its officers" have been substituted.
In section 43 specifies ‘Power to make rules’, in sub-section (2), in clause (xxvi), for the words and signs "Chairman, Senior Vice-Chairman, Vice-Chairman, members", the words and sign "Chairman, members" has been substituted.
