The Department of Legal and Legislative Affairs, Punjab on July 18, 2022 has issued the Punjab Rural Development (Amendment) Act, 2022 to further amend the Punjab Rural Development Act, 1987.

A bill to provide for the management and regulation of water resources of the State for ensuring the judicious, equitable and sustainable utilization and management thereof, and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The Governor of Punjab has already notified Newand Renewable Sources of Energy Policy (NRSE) 2012 which, interalia, provides for encouraging solar power generation to harness vast solar potential in the State and to promote Stand Alone, Rooftop and IPP projects to achieve installed capacity of 1000 MW by the year 2022.

Economic survey of Punjab is prepared by the Economic and Statistical Organisation, Department of Planning every year which is presented in the budget session of State Vidhan Sabha. It analyses the important economic activities and achievements of the Government during the previous year.

Realizing the need for institutional and investment reforms in the rural water supply and sanitation sector, Government of Punjab has reworked its rural water supply and sanitation policy to address these issues, which affect quality of service and its sustainability.
