The Government of Punjab on December 27, 2023, notified the Punjab Canal and Drainage Act, 2023. The following has been stated: Section 2 talks about various definitions like “canal” “culturable command area” and others. Section 3 talks about the Power of the state government to Appoint officers.
The Government of Punjab on December 19, 2023, published the Draft Punjab Motor Vehicle Aggregator Rules, 2023. The following has been stated namely: It states that these rules shall apply to all Aggregators operating in the state of Punjab and shall apply to all motor vehicles and e-rickshaws.
The Government of Punjab on November 28, 2023, notified the Punjab Canal and Drainage Bill, 2023. The main objective of the Bill is to ensure hindrance-free canal waters to farmers and land owners for irrigation purposes, maintenance, repair and timely cleanliness of canals, drainages and natural water courses.
The Governor of Punjab has issued the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Building (Amendment) Rules, 2023. The amendment provides following provisions: Maximum floor to floor height of Booths or Shops or Shop-cum-Offices shall not be more than 14′-0″. Clear height of the basement shall not be more than 3 meter.
The Government of Punjab on April 18, 2023, issued the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act (Amendment), 2023 to further amend the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1961.
The Government of Punjab on March 13, 2023, issued the Punjab State Minor Mineral Policy, 2023 to provide sand and gravel at affordable rates to the consumers and further ensure that mining of sand and gravel is undertaken in a transparent and legal manner.
In an effort to control environmental pollution in the state of Punjab brought on by vehicle emissions, the Punjab Cabinet, approved the Punjab Electric Vehicle Policy (PEVP) 2022 on 3rd February 2023.
The Government of Punjab on January 27, 2023, issued the Punjab Ground Water Extraction and Conservation Directions, 2023 under powers conferred under Section 15 (2) of the Punjab Water Resources (Management and Regulation) Act, 2020. These shall extend to the whole of the State of Punjab.
