The Department of Rural Development & Panchayats, Government of Punjab has recently implemented waste water treatment systems, applying Waste Stabilization Ponds (WSP) technology in some of the villages in the districts of Ludhiana and Muktasar, in order to rejuvenate/renovate existing unused ponds.

Governor of Punjab has proposed this “New and Renewable Sources of Energy Policy 2012 to develop new and renewable sources of energy based technologies and energy conservation measures as well as provide financial and fiscal assistance.

This policy by the Punjab government is aimed at providing the framework for tourism growth in the state in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable manner.

The State Water Policy envisions that available water resources should be utilized efficiently and judiciously to meet drinking water needs and irrigation requirements in a manner that also promotes its conservation and engenders community participation. It seeks to make water everybody

The Punjab Urban Water and Sanitation Policy of the Government of the Punjab is intended to guide and support provincial institutions, District Governments, Tehsil Municipal Administrations, Water Utilities and communities for improving water and sanitation services.

Punjab is at a more advanced stage of development than most other Indian states. However, the remarkable achievements of the state have not been equitable. Amidst prosperity, pockets of deprivation remain among sections and areas.

Electricity is a critical infrastructure on which the socio-economic development of the State depends. The reliable, quality, and affordable power supply is one of the key drivers for the State's industrial and commercial growth. Punjab is far away from the coal mines/fuel sources. Higher freight on the coal/fuel substantially enhances the cost of power.
