Report filed by the Additional Secretary, Local Self Government Department, Kerala in the matter of Tribunal on its own motion Suo Motu based on the report dated 26.06.2023 received from Hon’ble Justice A.V. Ramakrishna Pillai on the Present Status of Waste dump site at Cubaloor in Mangalpady Panchayat, Kasargod District, Kerala.

The NGT, September 5, 2024 directed completion of bio-mining work in all respects. The Assistant Engineer, LSGD, Mangalpady Grama Panchayat, who is the implementing officer of the biomining project has informed that the work can be completed within a period of 6 months of commencement of the work. All efforts are being made to bring out a solution to clear the legacy waste at Kubanoor in Mangalpady panchayat.

Joint Director, Local Self Government Department, Kasargod district reported that tender for the work at Kubanoor waste management center which was included in the annual plan for the year 2023-2024 of the Mangalpady Grama Panchayat was approved. Contractor has entered into agreement with the panchayat on August 27, 2024 and the site has been handed over for the commencement of work. Secretary Mangalpady Grama Panchayat reported that efforts are being take to complete the work at the earliest.
