Sikkim has led the way by setting up a Commission on Glacier and Climate in the State in September 2007.
According to ML Arrawatia, member secretary of the Commission and also Secretary of Science and Technology department, Government of India has also taken steps to study the glaciers of the country. Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh has released a book also on National Action Plan for climate change and he has set up a national council to study it.
