Pakistan, in the grip of a drug abuse crisis for long, is seeking to take all possible steps to handle the menace ***. Consumption of heroin has increased dramatically over the years. With 3 million drug users today, Pakistan has the highest rate of drug abuse among the developing countries. Pakistanis were introduced to heroin in the 1980s; the 'heroin culture' has created social and economic problems including destruction of families and loss of economic productivity.
